9 Ways HubSpot Certification Makes You a Better B2B Inbound Marketer
HubSpot’s courses are great resources for increasing your knowledge of inbound marketing concepts and how to use their software effectively. There are currently five total online courses offered by HubSpot. Some are open to the public and some are not. I recently went through the Inbound Certification course and the HubSpot Certification course.
The HubSpot certification course is reserved for HubSpot customers and contains 13 different lessons each with about 30 minutes of video material. This course covers how to implement inbound marketing using HubSpot’s software. To gain the HubSpot certification you have to pass the exam and implement 7 out of 11 of HubSpots best practices.
Inbound Certification is great, but it only teaches you how to talk the talk of inbound marketing, not walk the walk. HubSpot Certification is much more in-depth and is the application of the Inbound Certification. The HubSpot Certification practicum is a doozy. I first passed the HubSpot Certification test the first day of my internship with MLT Creative, but didn’t pass the practicum until a year later. Needless to say, HubSpot Certification separates the mice from the men. Don’t be a marketing mouse, bite the bullet and get certified.
Here are some ways that HubSpot Certification can help you become a better b2b inbound marketer:
1) It shows you how to apply inbound marketing to your business.
The classes don’t just give you theories and ideas, but they show you how to apply these theories and ideas to your actual marketing. Want to know if HubSpot works? Get this certification and you will have an answer.
2) It will turn around your marketing.
HubSpot Certification isn’t a means to doing better marketing, it requires doing better marketing. Thanks to their practicum you have to implement some level of competent marketing to get certified. If there is a gaping hole in your strategy, this is a great way to identify it.
3) The teachers are experts that use HubSpot on a daily basis.
Who better to learn from than the actual company that is making the product! The people teaching the classes know what they are talking about.
4) You can go as slow or as fast as you want.
If you want, you can do what I did and binge watch all of their classes like the last season of Mad Men, or you can stretch it out over weeks, months, or even a whole year. Once you pass the test, you have a whole year to pass the practicum. (The certification is only good for a year, so the closer to a year you wait, the sooner you will have to repeat the process. Still you have a long time.)
5) It’s free for HubSpot customers.
That’s right FREE! Woohoo! It just takes some time (see #5).
6) HubSpot provides a number of free extra resources for each lesson.
These include ebooks, blogs, videos, study guides, downloadable slides, and more. You can go as in depth as you want.
7) It comes with serious bragging rights.
While any joe schmo can get on HubSpot’s website and take the Inbound Certification, the HubSpot Certified are the proud few. This certification proves that you know how to successfully implement inbound marketing using HubSpot’s software. You could say we are the Navy Seals of the marketing world. Maybe.
8) HubSpot updates all their certifications in order to keep their content fresh.
Every few months HubSpot will update out-of-date material, sometimes adding in whole new sections and lessons to meet the needs of inbound marketers today. While some of the info may not be THE LATEST, it is certainly pretty dang cutting edge.
9) HubSpot Certification is the only way to know how to use all of HubSpot’s tools
If no one in your company is HubSpot Certified and you are paying for HubSpot you are wasting your time and money. That’s right. You might as well take however much you are paying for HubSpot at the moment, walk to the nearest restroom, and discretely flush it down the toilet. (If you are paying someone else to do HubSpot then you are off the hook). HubSpot is only as good as the people using it. Stop wasting your money, get certified.
Conclusion
HubSpot’s educational focus has not only helped them become and stay innovators in the marketing industry, but has enriched the industry as a whole, helping inbound marketing agencies, companies using HubSpot and those using other marketing automation services better their practices.
